Australia Day Weekend Event
Free Play and IFPA Tournaments
January 26th, 27th and 28th.
A fun packed whole weekend of pinball, starting on Australia Day the 26th of January and going for the whole long weekend until Monday the 28th of January.
This is a Stern Army and IFPA endorsed event.
The Stern Army, created by Stern Pinball and partnered with the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA), aims to expand the pinball playing community by helping to create more pinball events at public locations. The IFPA is a governing body that regulates pinball tournaments worldwide and manages a ranking system for pinball tournament players.
The weekend will be filled with official IFPA tournaments, Unlimited Free Play events, plus exciting mini competitions.
The perfect fun filled weekend for everyone – plenty of tournaments for those into IFPA world ranked tournaments, mini-competitions for those wanting a more relaxed competition, and free play events for everyone.
BBQ's provided! BYO food and drinks. Celebrate Australia Day with some pinball and a BBQ.
TOURNAMENT 1: AUSTRALIA DAY BEST GAME
GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. UNLIMITED Qualifying on Saturday January 26th from 11am-9pm.
2. Finals from 9-10pm.
3. Best game qualifying with SINGLE game elimination finals on ONE machine for 50% of the field up to maximum of 16 players.
4. In qualifying, players will play UNLIMITED games on each of the 10 machines.
5. The scores on each machine will be ranked and players will be allocated points accordingly.
6. Only ONE score on each of the 10 machines will count toward a players final tally.
7. Once the qualifying period starts all games played count. Games can be re-started and choose not to have their score recorded. There is no warm-up during this period.
8. The higher ranked qualifier for the ONE game as the choice of either selecting: machine played OR going first or second.
9. Entry is $20 per person for unlimited qualifying.
FORMAT:
1. TOURNAMENT NAME: Australia Day Stern Army Best Game Tournament.
2. DATE: Saturday 26th of January at Nhill Oasis Motel 21/22 Dimboola Rd, Nhill Victoria 3418.
3. EVENT: Main.
4. TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR: Lyndon Carter.
5. ESTIMATED # OF PLAYERS: 32.
6. TGP: ?%.
7. UNLIMITED QUALIFYING: Yes.
8. FORMAT: 10 MACHINES
QUALIFYING: Best Game. 50% of the qualifying field up to a maximum of 16 players will qualify for the finals.
FINALS: Single elimination game on ONE machine. The higher ranked qualifier for each game has the choice of either selecting: Machine played OR going first or second.
TOURNAMENT 2: AUSTRALIAN PINBALL MUSEUM FLIP FRENZY
GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Saturday from 6pm-9pm.
2. Flip Frenzy tournament.
3. Once all players have registered, the number of players will be divided by 2.6 to determine how many machines will be used for the tournament.
4. As soon as all the information is presented the start button on the stop watch is pressed and the tournament runs for THREE hours
5. The match play software will run this tournament.
6. When the tournament starts each machine is randomly assigned 2 players. The remaining players are placed in a queue.
7. When a game is completed:
- Both players are to go to the desk to report the result, without any delay. The winner scores a WIN and the loser scores a LOSS.
Regardless of the result:
- The player who was Player 2 in the game stays at the desk, and goes to the back of the queue to await their next game assignment.
- The player who was Player 1 in the game returns to the same machine with the player from the front of the queue. The new player will be PLAYER 1 in the new game, and the returning player is Player 2.
- After that game, the process is repeated and results are reported, P2 goes to the rear of the queue, and P1 returns to the same game to play as Player 2 in the new game.
- Players who are absent from the queue when their name is called are to be credited with a loss, and placed at the back of the queue.
- All Frenzy games must be played in a competitive spirit. Any collusion in results (ie 1 ball games) will result in disqualification from the event.
- A player is free to end their ball if they think they have enough points to win, or plunge a ball if they want to concede. However, all balls must be played and the game must be in GAME OVER state when the players leave the game. Turning a machine on/off to end a game is not allowed.
- Extra balls should be turned off, however if not "skillfully plunged" is OK - ie you can line up a skill shot etc, but no attempts to flip the ball are allowed.
- At the end of the 3 hours, no more games may start.
- Standings are to be based on net wins (i.e. wins - losses = your score) The best score at the end of the competition is the winner.
Ties will be broken by head-to-head results, and if still tied, by a single game playoff on a machine chosen at random. If needed, the single game playoff will only be used to break ties for first and second places.

5. ESTIMATED # OF PLAYERS: 32.
6. TGP: 80% approx.
7. UNLIMITED QUALIFYING: No.
8. FORMAT: Flip Frenzy.
1) When the tournament starts each machine is randomly assigned 2 players. The remaining players are placed in a queue.
2) When a match is completed: Please refer to the process above.
3) At the end of 3 hours no more games may start. Whoever has the most WINS MINUS LOSSES in that time is declared the winner. Ties will be broken by head-to-head results, and if still tied, by a single game playoff on a machine chosen at random. If needed, the single game playoff will only be used to break ties for first and second places.
4) Strictly NO ONE BALL GAMES are to be played, and CONCEDING can ONLY be done after BOTH PLAYERS HAVE PLAYED 2 BALLS with all 3 BALLS to be PLUNGED OUT.
TOURNAMENT 3: AUSTRALIAN PINBALL MUSEUM PINGOLF
GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Sunday from 9am-5pm.
2. Tournament Date: 27th January 2018

Format Type: 18 Hole Par3 Pingolf Qualifying & Head to Head Single Elimination Finals
3. Entry is $20 per person.
Tour Info:
- 9am-4pm registration and qualifying
- 4pm-5pm finals for top 50% or 12 players, whichever is the lesser.
- Top qualifiers may get a bye depending on numbers.
- Pingolf head to head finals on 1 elimination hole each round.
- Highest seed chooses machine and hole objective from qualifying or player position.
- A player cannot choose the same machine twice in the finals.
- No consolation tournament
- Estimated # players: 24
- TGP: estimated 80% (70%qualifying, 10% finals)
TOURNAMENT 4: AUSTRALIAN PINBALL MUSEUM 5 STRIKES
GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Sunday from 1pm-4pm.
2. AUSTRALIAN PINBALL MUSEUM 5 STRIKE tournament.
3. Players will be grouped into fours and if necessary, groups of threes.
4. In each round, each group will play a SINGLE game and allocated STRIKES according to their finishing position; 1ST - 0, 2ND - 1, 3RD - 1, 4TH - 2 or 1ST - 0, 2ND -1, 3RD - 2.
5. For the first-round grouping will be based on IFPA rankings.
6. After the first round the computer will group players for subsequent rounds according to the strikes attained.
7. Winner will be awarded to the ONE left without 5 STRIKES.
8. Entry is $20 per person.
FORMAT:
1. TOURNAMENT NAME: AUSTRALIAN PINBALL MUSEUM 5 STRIKES.
2. DATE: Sunday 27th of January at Nhill Oasis Motel 21/22 Dimboola Rd, Nhill Victoria.
3. EVENT: Side.
4. TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR: Michael Costalos.
5. ESTIMATED # OF PLAYERS: 24.
6. TGP: 80%.
7. UNLIMITED QUALIFYING: No.
8. FORMAT: 5 STRIKES.
1) Seeding: IFPA.
2) First round pairing: Slaughter.
3) General pairing: Swiss. Players will be grouped with those of similar strikes.
4) Player order: Rotates player order evenly.
5) Scoring system: STRIKES 1ST - 0, 2ND - 1, 3RD - 1, 4TH - 2 or 1ST - 0, 2ND -1, 3RD - 2.
6) Arena draws: Balanced - Attempts will be made to assign an arena that has been played the fewest times by all opponents.
7) Duration: FIVE STRIKES.
8) Matches each round: ONE match.
9) Winner: The final individual without 5 STRIKES.
TOURNAMENT 5: AUSTRALIAN PINBALL MUSEUM FLIP FRENZY
GENERAL INFORMATION:
